چکیده

N-methyl-N'-nitro-N-nitrosoguanidine (NTG) in high concentrations inactivates extracellular simian virus 40. No mutants were found in stocks of virions partially inactivated by NTG under the experimental conditions employed. In contrast, NTG in low concentrations inhibits the intracellular replication of simian virus 40 and is an effective mutagen of the intracellular virus. Six temperature-sensitive mutants of simian virus 40 have been isolated for genetic studies of the virus and its interaction with mammalian cells.

Inhibition of carcinogen-inducible DNA amplification in a simian virus 40-transformed hamster cell line by ethacridine or ethanol.

DNA amplification as a mechanism to increase gene expression has been established as a cause of cytotoxic drug resistance and appears to play a role in tumor cell progression. In order to investigate factors which control the process of DNA amplification we have been using a simian virus 40 (SV40)-transformed Chinese hamster cell line (CO60) as a model system. This cell line can be induced to a...

Anti-mutagenic and Anti-oxidant Potencies of Cetraria Aculeata (Schreb.) Fr., Cladonia Chlorophaea (Flörke ex Sommerf.) Spreng. and Cetrelia Olivetorum (Nyl.) W.L. Culb. & C.F. Culb.)

In this study, the mutagenic and anti-mutagenic effects of methanol extract of three lichen species (Cetraria aculeata, Cladonia chlorophae and Certalia olivetorum) were investigated by using E.coli-WP2, Ames-Salmonella (TA1535 and TA1537) and sister chromatid exchange (SCE) test systems. The results obtained from bacterial test systems demonstrated that methanol extracts of three lichen specie...

Simian virus 40-induced mutagenesis: action of the early viral region.

Earlier results have demonstrated a mutagenic activity of simian virus 40 (SV40) in mammalian cells. To analyse this ability further, the effect of SV40 DNA fragments, introduced into Chinese hamster cells, on the frequency of mutations at the hypoxanthine phosphoribosyltransferase locus and other loci was studied. It was found that the mutagenic effect was substantially maintained when the vir...

Optimizing the process of inactivating influenza virus subtype H9N2 by formalin in the production of killed avian influenza vaccine

Avian influenza is one of the most important diseases in avian industry, which also threats human population. Thus, vaccination is necessary for controlling this viral disease. In this study, killed vaccine of avian influenza subtype H9N2 and formalin solution (for virus inactivation) were used. It is necessary to study the effect of different factors such as formalin concentration, as well as ...
